Rejoice! The time of the Moth has returned – and just in time for Halloween!
Join taxidermist Sherene Scott for the only workshop of its kind in the North East, learning how to preserve a number of specimens that you get to take home, including… the Death’s-Head Hawk Moth!
In this rare & intimate workshop, you’ll learn the basics in preparing, setting & preserving a series of enchanting insects.
You’ll start with butterflies before moving onto the hauntingly beautiful Death’s-Head Hawk Moth (Acherontia Atropos), famous for the skull-like pattern on its thorax (and Silence of The Lambs, obvs).
Even cooler, ALL curious creations you preserve get to come home with you – and last forever!
Each ticket includes:
3 hour workshop with professional taxidermist Sherene Scott (aka THE MOTHER OF MOTH)
Your very own preserved Death’s-Head Hawk Moth to proudly display at home
Your own preserved set of enchanting butterflies to take home
Bubbles or beers! (Teas, coffee & water also available)
Complimentary vegan cupcakes (because everything is better with cake)
A fun, encouraging safe space to meet like-minded souls!
FYI: Tickets go faster than a bat outta hell for these workshops. This one is super limited to eight spaces – so book early to avoid disappointment!
Where to find us:
You’re gonna love this… we’re teaming up with the badass ladies at Skullen Collective Ltd for this extra-special event! It’s a gloriously quirky venue under the Tyne Bridge at Newcastle’s Quayside, so dead easy to reach from the city centre! More details on how to find us here.
No creatures are killed for this art!
Moth Studios places utmost importance in ensuring all specimens are responsibly & legally sourced, logged, stored and mounted. We love animals and treat them with the respect they deserve in both life and afterlife.
Going forward, Moth Studios will be hosting smaller alternative experiences every few months. This is a truly exclusive opportunity to learn a new unusual skill, have fun, get into the Samhain spirit, and preserve your own part of natural history forever!

All specimens are obtained from sustainable sources: either from responsible breeders at The Lepidopterists’ Association or donations from natural deaths in the wild.
We cannot offer refunds and exchanges. All materials, tools & set-ups are prepared way in advance according to numbers. Due to the small and unique nature of our workshops and business, our refund and exchange policy is non-negotiable.
